Notes on operating copy pairs

To manipulate a copy pair, make the copy pair’s volumes offline first.

When using the YKSUSPND command or YKRESYNC command with the FORWARD or REVERSE
parameter specified to change the copy direction of a copy group, make sure you execute
the YKQUERY or YKEWAIT command, and then perform subsequent operations after acquiring
information about the copy direction after the change.

Notes on dissolving copy pairs

Do not execute the YKDELETE command when the P-VOLs and S-VOLs are being switched.
For copy pair dissolution, switch the P-VOL and S-VOL again, return the P-VOL to the Primary
site (return to normal operation), and then dissolve the copy pair.

For TCA, the consistency group ID remains in the Secondary site or both in the Primary site
and Secondary site. To remake a copy pair, check the status of the consistency group ID from
Remote Web Console, delete the consistency group from the Secondary site, and then reregister
the consistency group in the Primary site again.

While the copy group status is SWAPPING by issuing the YKSUSPND command to reverse
the copy direction, do not execute the YKDELETE command.

If you execute the YKDELETE command from the primary host while the copy group status is
SWAPPING, the status of the P-VOL of the primary site will be changed to SIMPLEX and the
status of the S-VOL of the secondary site will be changed to SWAPPING.

To recover from this status:
1.

From the ISPF panel or Remote Web Console, make sure that the status of the P-VOL at
the primary site is SIMPLEX and the status of the S-VOL at the secondary site is SWAPPING.
