2DC

Two data center.

2DC configuration

A configuration in which remote copying is performed from the primary site to the secondary
site.

2DC configuration
with HyperSwap
and Cnt Ac-J Z

A configuration that performs a delta resync between the primary site and a secondary site, after
a HyperSwap on the primary site. This enables a 2DC configuration to be maintained in which
applications can be continued even after a HyperSwap, and for the volumes that are the
destinations for I/Os to be switched around without the user being aware that anything happened.

3DC

Three data center.

3DC (Cnt Ac-J Z x
Cnt Ac-J Z)
configuration

A generic name that refers to 3DC Cascade (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configurations and 3DC
Multi-Target (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configurations.

3DC Cascade (Cnt
Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J
Z) configuration

A configuration to perform remote copying with a distant intermediate site and distant remote
site, in which Continuous Access Journal Z is applied from the primary site to the intermediate
site, and from the intermediate site to the remote site.

3DC Cascade (Cnt
Ac-S Z x Cnt Ac-J
Z) configuration

A configuration to perform remote copying with a nearby intermediate site and distant remote
site, in which Cnt Ac-S Z and Cnt Ac-J Z are applied from the primary site to the intermediate
site, and from the intermediate site to the remote site.

3DC Cascade
configuration with
three Continuous
Access Journal Z
sites

In this manual, a 3DC Cascade configuration with three Continuous Access Journal Z sites is
referred to as a 3DC Cascade (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration. See 3DC Cascade (Cnt
Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration
.

3DC Multi-Target
(Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt
Ac-J Z)
configuration

A configuration to perform remote copying with two distant remote sites, in which Continuous
Access Journal Z is applied from the primary site to both remote sites.

3DC Multi-Target
(Cnt Ac-S Z x Cnt
Ac-J Z)
configuration

A configuration to perform remote copying with a nearby local site and a distant remote site, in
which Cnt Ac-S Z and Cnt Ac-J Z are applied from the primary site to the local site, and from the
primary site to the remote site.

3DC Multi-Target
configuration with
three Continuous
Access Journal Z
sites

In this manual, a 3DC Multi-Target configuration with three Continuous Access Journal Z sites is
referred to as a 3DC Multi-Target (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration. See 3DC Multi-Target
(Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration
.

4x4 configuration

A configuration in which both the primary and secondary sites consist of multiple storage systems
and remote copy is performed to preserve consistency in those multiple storage systems. The
applicable copy type is Cnt Ac-J Z.

4x4x4 Cascade
configuration

A 3DC Cascade (Cnt Ac-S Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration in which Cnt Ac-S Z is applied between
the primary site and intermediate site. Cnt Ac-J Z in a 4x4 configuration is applied between the
intermediate site and remote site. Consistency can be preserved in a 3DC Cascade (Cnt Ac-S Z
x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration with multiple DKCs in one site.

4x4x4 Delta
Resync
configuration

A configuration with a combination of a 4x4 configuration and a Delta Resync configuration.
There is a nearby local site and a distant remote site. Cnt Ac-S Z is applied from the primary site
to the local site. Cnt Ac-J Zis applied from the primary site to the remote site. In addition, Cnt Ac-J
Zin the Delta Resync waiting status is applied from the local site to the remote site. Consistency
can be preserved in a Delta Resync configuration with multiple storage systems in one site.
