Figure 47 Overview of using different command device lines by specifying route labels

For example, different command device lines can be used for actual operation and test operation.

Route labels can be specified by the following means:

Script (the YKLOAD command)

ISPF panel (the Set Defaults panel)

BCM Monitor (copy group parameter)

Business Continuity Manager agent (initialization parameter)

Creating an inter-control unit logical path dedicated to the command device

If the Remote DKC Control function is used in an environment that has a large number of copy
pairs, and the logical path is heavily loaded due to mass remote copy processing, command
execution may take an excessive amount of time, such as in the following situations:

The YKQUERY command is executed on a Continuous Access Synchronous Z, TrueCopy
Asynchronous for Mainframe, or Continuous Access Journal Z copy group.

The YKQUERY command is executed on a Business Copy copy group on the other site.

To shorten the command execution time in an environment involving a large number of copy pairs,
create an inter-control unit logical path that is dedicated to the command device and is also separate
from the logical paths used for remote copying, and use this path when configuring the Remote
DKC Control function.

The following figure provides an overview of an inter-control unit logical path dedicated to command
devices (for Continuous Access Journal).
