Introduction

This manual provides information about the EtherNet/IP
Communications module (MDCOMM-ENET) and using it with MDI

AC drives, such as MD65 drives. It is intended for qualified electrical
personnel familiar with installing, programming, and maintaining AC
drives and networks.

The module is mounted in the drive and receives its required power
from the drive. It can be used with other products that implement
MDI, which is a peripheral communication interface. Refer to the
documentation for your product for specific information about how it
works with this module.

Module Features

The EtherNet/IP Communications module features the following:

Status indicators that report the status of the drive
communications, module, and network. They are visible both
when the cover is opened and when it is closed.

I/O, including Logic Command/Reference may be configured for
your application using a parameter.

A number of tools to configure the module and connected drive.
These tools include the LCD OIM and VS Utilities software. In
addition, you can use a BOOTP server to configure the network
features on the module (for example, the IP address).

User-defined fault actions that determine how the module and the
drive respond to communication disruptions on the network and
controllers in idle mode.

Explicit messages are supported.

A switch lets you select between Single or Mult-Drive mode of
operation. In Single mode (default), the module represents a
single drive on one node. In Multi-Drive mode, the module
represents up to 5 drives on one node.

Each module has a web page that displays information about the
module, the connected drive, and other MDI devices connected to
the drive.
