However, step 1 is different. From the intermediate site, execute the YKDELETE command for the
Continuous Access Journal Z copy pair between the intermediate site and the remote site.

Recovering

For details about the recovering procedure required when a path failure occurs between the storage
systems at the primary site and the intermediate site, see the recovery procedure used when a
failure, with no information lost from memory, occurs in the intermediate site storage system. For
details, see

“Recovering” (page 365)

in

system failure (with no information lost from memory)” (page 364)

However, there is no need to perform step 2.

Operating procedure during a path failure between the storage systems at the
intermediate site and the remote site

The following are the operating procedures that must be performed when a path failure occurs
between the storage systems at the intermediate site and the remote site.

Preparing

If a path failure occurs between the storage systems at the intermediate site and the remote site,
perform the same preparatory procedure that is used when a failure, with no information lost from
memory, occurs in the remote site storage system. See

“Preparing” (page 368)

in

“Operating

procedure during a remote site storage system failure (with no information lost from memory)”
(page 368)

.

Recovering

If a path failure occurs between the storage systems at the intermediate site and the remote site,
perform the same recovery procedure that is used when a failure, with no information lost from
memory, occurs in the remote site storage system. See

procedure during a remote site storage system failure (with no information lost from memory)”

Using a 3DC Multi-Target (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration

The following table explains how to perform maintenance for a 3DC Multi-Target (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt
Ac-J Z) configuration and how to take action if a failure occurs.

For maintenance or troubleshooting for the primary site storage system, either of the two remote
sites can be selected as the failover destination. If a primary site storage system failure occurred,
you can view the consistency time of each Continuous Access Journal Z copy pair to select the site
that has the latest data update time as the failover destination.
