10 Automatic operation using BCM Monitor

This chapter provides an overview of the BCM Monitor functions. It explains how to start and stop
BCM Monitor, describes the available operator commands, troubleshooting procedures, and also
provides operation examples.

Overview of the BCM Monitor functions

BCM Monitor loads parameter files (YKMONOPT and YKMONCG) used to monitor the status of copy
groups. If a monitored copy group changes to the specified status for that copy group (the target
status), BCM Monitor automatically performs the specified operations (the actions) for the copy
group. The actions include startup actions, which are executed if the monitored copy group is not
in the specified status when BCM Monitor starts, and error actions, which are executed when the
executed action results in an error. Information about BCM Monitor and about the copy group's
status is output to SYSTSPRT or the Remote Web Console.
