Enclosure Bay IP Addressing

The EBIPA screens allow you to configure IPv4 and IPv6 fixed addresses for Onboard Administrator
enclosure bays. The Onboard Administrator EBIPA feature helps you provision a fixed IP address based on

bay number, which preserves the IP address for a particular bay even if a module is hot replaced. The

management interface for components plugged into the bays must be set for DHCP. EBIPA can only be used

if the devices are set to boot from DHCP. If a device is configured for static IP, then it must be manually
reconfigured to DHCP to change the EBIPA IP address.

NOTE:

The Onboard Administrator documentation refers to EBIPA IP addresses as "fixed IP

addresses" or "fixed DHCP addresses," meaning that each of these addresses is an IP address

permanently associated with a specific bay number independent of the actual device currently

attached to the bay.

If the server blade iLO is configured for an EBIPA fixed IP address, it carries that address when the blade is
moved to another enclosure.
If the server blades are set for DHCP and Onboard Administrator is configured for EBIPA addressing for that

bay, iLO will obtain an EBIPA configured IP address when it is plugged into that enclosure.
The server blade iLO defaults to DHCP IP addressing, obtained through the network connector of the active
Onboard Administrator. Interconnect modules that have an internal management network connection to the

Onboard Administrator might also default to DHCP addressing.
The Onboard Administrator GUI lists the IP address for the server blade iLO bay and interconnect module

management bay.
The server blade iLO bays and interconnect module management bays can obtain IP addresses on the
management network in three ways: dynamic IP addressing using an external DHCP server, static IP

addressing, or EBIPA. If your network has a DHCP service or if you want to manually assign static IP
