Configuring Preferences

IP Group Configuration

IP Address Type

Specify the type of the IP address entry. Two types are provided:

IP Address Range

: Specify a starting IP address and an ending IP address. A rule

that references the IP address entry will be applied to the IP addresses within the

range in the entry.

IP Address/Mask

: Specify a network address and a subnet mask. A rule that

references the IP address entry will be applied to the IP addresses within the

range in the entry.

Description

Enter a brief description for the IP address entry to facilitate your management. It

can be 50 characters at most.

2.2 Grouping IP Address Entries

Choose the menu

Preferences > IP Group > IP Group

and click

Add

to load the following

page.

Create an IP Group

Follow these steps to create an IP group and add IP address entries to the group:
1) Specify a name and configure the range to add an IP address range.

Group Name

Enter a name for the IP group. Only letters, digits or underscores are allowed.

Address Name

Select the IP address entry, and you can select more than one entry for one IP

group. A rule that references the IP group will be applied to all the IP addresses in

the group.

Description

Enter a brief description for the address group to facilitate your management. It

can be 50 characters at most.

Note:

The IP group that has been referenced by a rule cannot be deleted unless the rule no longer

references the IP group.

The IP group can be null, which means the IP group contains no IP address. A rule that references the

address group will not take effect on any IP address.
