switched OFF, press the

key to switch the display ON,

then go to step 8.

20 second delay to elapse so that the instrument can become
fully operational.

8.

When the instrument is fully operational with the display

switched ON, press the

key to display the battery voltage

in the following format:

9.

Replace batteries when the displayed voltage falls near 4.2 V.

Valid measurements and readings can be obtained with battery
voltages as low as 3.0 V. However as the probable battery life
will be very short, it is recommended that a set of new batter-
ies be used whenever the instrument is to be employed for a
complete working shift.

10.

If the dosimeter is not to be used immediately, switch it OFF
(ON/OFF switch in outer un-latched position) to conserve bat-
tery life.

Performing a Field Accuracy Check
(Acoustic Calibration)

In accordance with accepted measurement practice, check the accous-
tic calibration immediately before (and after*) making measurements
with the CEL-281.

Note*:

Calibration after a measurement overwrites the initial calibration level used in any

printout via a PC program.
