Making Preliminary Settings

When the dosimeter is switched ON and operated, it will use either the
default settings set at the factory or settings remembered from the last
time it was run.

However, apart from the indicated calibration level and the clock set-
tings (which are detailed in Sections 4.5 and 4.6 respectively), only two
other items remain that may need setting to match any particular meas-
urement requirements.

These settings determine the time weighting and frequency weighting
to be used in the forthcoming measurement run. Once set, they will be
stored by the instrument for use the next time it is switched ON, so that
when a series of similar measurements is to be made, no further setting
changes should be necessary.

4.7.1

Setting Time Weighting

The time weighting used for calculating sound exposure levels (Pa

2

h),

%Dose, Projected %Dose and the L

AVG

profiles (but not L

eq

profiles)

will depend upon the conditions specified by the relevant measuring
standard.

It is possible to change the time weighting in use only immediately after
the instrument has been calibrated. Proceed as follows.

1.

Ensure that batteries are loaded following the instructions
contained in Section 4.3, and that they have sufficient power
for the forthcoming measurement task (Section 4.4).

2.

If the instrument is switched OFF, switch the power ON as
described in Section 4.1.

3.

If the CEL-6012 Keypad is not in place, install it as detailed in
Section 4.2, then go to step 8.
