Logging In Through Telnet

Introduction

The device supports Telnet. You can manage and maintain the switching engine remotely by Telnetting
to the switching engine.

To log in to the switching engine through Telnet, the corresponding configuration is required on both the
switching engine and the Telnet terminal.

You can also log in to the switching engine through SSH. SSH is a secure shell added to Telnet. Refer to

SSH

in H3C WX3000 Series Unified Switches Switching Engine Configuration Guide for related

information.

Requirements for Telnetting to the switching engine

The IP address is configured for the VLAN of the switching engine, and the
route between the switching engine and the Telnet terminal is reachable.

Switching engine

The authentication mode and other settings are configured. Refer to

Table 4-2

Telnet is running.

Telnet terminal

The IP address of the VLAN of the switching engine is available.
