5.5 Air Assist
There are air nozzles on the apical part of the feeder and the side guides in the paper feeder unit (tray 4 to
tray 9). Air blown from the nozzles makes feeding go smoothly by handling papers and picking them up.
Air Assist settings are automatically configured.
Depending on the paper type, smooth feeding may be difficult, and it may cause a paper jam. In this case,
manually change the air assist settings. You can manually configure the settings by opening the tray's air
blow confirmation window and checking the condition of paper during feeding.
NOTICE
Do not open the air blow confirmation window of the tray 4 and tray 7. To make the Air Assist settings for tray
4 or 7, manually configure the settings for another tray than tray 4 or 7, then set the same adjustment value
for tray 4 or 7.
7CAUTION
- Do not put your hand into the open air blow confirmation window when the machine is working. Other-
wise, an unexpected accident may happen.

Press the [MACHINE] tab to display the Machine Screen.

Press [Paper Setting].
% Otherwise, press [Paper Setting] on the Copy Screen.
The Paper Setting Screen will be displayed.

Open the air blow confirmation window of the tray for which you
will manually configure the conditions of the air assist.
% Pull out the tray, remove the two screws, and then open the
air blow confirmation window.
% Return the tray to the original position.
