Change the Engine Coolant

WARNING:

BEFORE

DRAINING

THE

COOLING SYSTEM, WAIT UNTIL THE

ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 50°C

(120°F)

DO SO CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY

FROM HEATED COOLANT SPRAY.

The cooling system must be clean to work

correctly. Drain the system, and flush with clean

water. If the system shows mineral buildup,

scale, rust, or oil, clean with a heavy-duty engine

coolant cleaner and follow the manufacturer’s

directions.

To drain the cooling system, first turn the

temperature control knob in the cab to the

maximum heat position. Make sure the heater

shutoff valve on the engine is wide open.

Remove the radiator cap from the top of the

radiator.
