Configuring USP Interfaces

All CLI commands mentioned in this section are described in Chapter 6: X330WAN
CLI Commands
.
For a list of X330WAN default settings, see "X330WAN Default Settings" on page 28,
or use the

show interfaces

[<type>] [<identifier>]

command to display all

of the current settings.
To configure USP interfaces:

Use the

interface serial

<if-number>

command to enter the context of the

port you want to configure.

Use the following commands if you want to change the idle characters,
transmitter delay, encoding type, and bandwidth parameters from their default
settings:

idle characters

<flags|marks>

transmitter-delay

<number>

Note:

The

transmitter-delay

command is used usually when the DCE equipment

that is connected directly to the X330W-2USP, or the router on the WAN have a
receive buffer not large enough to hold the traffic sent by the X330W-2USP. In this
case, configure

transmitter-delay

on the DCE equipment or the remote router in

order to preserve the high performance that you had when

transmitter-delay

was configured to 0 on the X330W-2USP.

If required, change the interface encapsulation to Frame Relay using the

encapsulation frame-relay

command. If you selected Frame Relay

encapsulation, continue with step 7.

Use the

ip address

<ip address> <mask>

command to assign an IP address

and a Subnet mask to the interface.

Type

exit

to return to Supervisor mode.
