Safety Configuration and Verification

Safety-lock

When you have verified the operation of the system and recorded the
configuration Signature ID, you must lock the configuration to protect it from
modification.

You can lock the configuration by clicking the Lock command in the Safety Main
tab.

The safety lock status indicator on the control module illuminates solid yellow
when the configuration is locked. The safety lock status indicator flashes yellow
when the configuration is unlocked.

You can also check the safety-lock status of the system by viewing the
Configuration Lock bit (bit 1) in the AxisServoDrive.GuardStatus tag. If the bit
equals 1, the configuration is locked. If it equals 0, the configuration is unlocked.

Set and Change a Password

You can protect the system configuration by using an optional password. If you
set a password, edits to the configuration, as well as safety-locking and reset
operations require the password to be entered. You can set a password from the
Change Safety Password tab.

Follow these steps to set a new password.

1. Open the safety configuration tool and expand the Safety folder.

IMPORTANT

If you do not safety-lock the configuration, untested or unintentional
changes can be made to the safety configuration that could result in
unexpected system behavior.

IMPORTANT

The AxisServoDrive.GuardStatus tag must be set as a real time attribute.
