Chapter 3. Concepts

Run Post-Place
Timing Analysis

If selected, runs the Post-Place Timing Analysis flow step.

Run Post-Route
Timing Analysis

If selected, runs the Post-Route Timing Analysis flow step.

Run Final Timing
Analysis

If selected, runs the Final Timing Analysis flow step.

Asynchronous Target Devices

For asynchronous parts, the view will show a tree table, with each branch of the tree representing a separate
clock domain. The most critical path of each clock domain will be the branch node, with all other paths
from that clock domain acting as leaves for that branch.

Figure 3.76: Critical Paths View for 22iHP devices

Entries in the table are always grouped by clock domain, with individual paths sorted within a clock
domain. The clock domains themselves are (by default) sorted from most critical to least critical. For
asynchronous parts, criticality is based upon the reported frequency.

Critical Path View Table Columns (Asynchronous)

Column

Description

Highlight

Allows the user to highlight the path in the Floorplanner view, using the checkbox. Also
allows the user to configure the highlight color of the path by clicking on the color
selector box.

Clock
Domain

Displays the clock domain name of the path.

Path

Displays the unique path ID (used in the

Timing Report

).

Frequency

Displays the frequency of the path in MHz.

Type

Displays the path type.

Group

Displays the reconvergent path group ID. Each reconvergent path belongs to a group.

Stages

Displays the number of pipeline stages for the path. Only relevant to asynchronous
Target Devices.

Tokens

Displays the number of tokens on the path useful only when debugging Loops. Only
relevant to asynchronous Target Devices.

Source

Displays the source instance of the path.

Destination

Displays the destination instance of the path.

By default, highlight colors are arranged in a gradient from red to yellow according to frequency. The lowest
frequencies will always be colored red by default, even if they meet timing.
