3. Unlock and open the rear door. Allow the hydraulic

fluid to cool.

4. To remove the service brake valve, both the lower

dash panel and the front dash panel must be
removed. Refer to

Section 4.5, “Cab Removal.”

5. Label or otherwise mark the hydraulic hoses on the

top (Fig. 8-52, 1) and bottom (2) of the service brake
valve (3). Disconnect and cap all hoses, fittings, wire
terminal leads, etc.

Note: When the outlet fittings (Fig. 8-52, 4) on the brake
valve (3) are removed, a conical spring (5), a wave plate
(6) and an orifice (7) may fall out. If replacement parts
are required, contact the factory.

6. Remove the four hex-head capscrews (Fig. 8-53, 1)

and four lockwashers (2) mounting the service brake
valve to the steering column support.

DO NOT disassemble the service brake valve. The
service brake valve is not serviceable and must be
replaced in its entirety if defective.

WARNING:

Hot hydraulic fluid can

cause severe burns. Wait for hydraulic fluid to
cool before servicing any hydraulic component.

WARNING:

Escaping hydraulic fluid

under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing
death or serious injury. Relieve hydraulic pressure
before servicing any hydraulic component.
