Tools Needed: Gas regulator, calibration gas (see note on page 36).

Connect the CAPNOSTAT 5 CO
2
Sensor to the
yellow connector at the back of the R Series
unit, and connect an airway adapter to the
sensor.
21.2
While pressing and holding the second softkey
from the left, turn the selector switch to Monitor
(ON for AED units).
The unit displays EtCO
2
Calibration screen.
21.3
Wait for the sensor to warm up.
The message WARM UP is displayed for approximately one minute.
21.4
Obtain current room temperature in
Centigrade (Cº).
21.5
Press the Select Gas Temp softkey to enter the
CO
2
Accuracy screen
21.6
Use the Prev, Next, Inc and Dec softkeys to set
each digit of the gas temperature parameter in
the CAPNOSTAT 5 CO
2
Sensor until Gas
Degrees C is equal to the room temperature.

Press the Return softkey to store the
temperature and return to the main EtCO
2
Calibration screen.

Press the Zero softkey to zero the mainstream
CAPNOSTAT 5 CO

Sensor/Airway Adapter.

Attach a regulated flowing gas mixture of 5%
CO

, balance Nitrogen (N

) to the airway
adapter.
The gas flow rate should already be preset to 2 to 5 liters per minute.
