Options

(6) PC-Fax Reception ON/OFF

It is necessary to turn this setting ON in order to utilise the PC-Fax
functionality of the RS-232C board. It is additionally possible to set
the number of times that the bell will “ring” (1 - 11 rings) in the PC-Fax
reception mode, or to set the bell to NOT ring (set to “0”).
* This setting is only available if the RS-232C mode is turned ON.

(Refer to “(5) RS-232C mode ON/OFF”, page 10-5.)

* If this setting is left OFF, only standard fax reception will be

possible.

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter the

registered management password and then press the ENTER
FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your Access Code”, page 7-28.

1. Press the FUNCTION key.

2. Press the (

) cursor key until the following message appears in

the message display.

3. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

4. Use the cursor key (

) (

) to select whether you want to turn PC-

Fax reception ON or OFF.

5. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

* If you chose to turn PC-Fax reception OFF, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

6. Use the keypad to enter the desired number of rings (1 - 11) for the

PC-Fax reception mode. To set the bell to NOT ring, select “0”.
* If you do NOT want to change the present setting, press the

STOP key. The message display will revert to the initial mode.

7. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

8. Press the STOP key. The message display will revert to the initial

mode.

(7) Recommended Computer Environment

The computer configuration recommended for running the scanning
system under Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 3.1 are
as follows.
• IBM PC/AT or compatible
• Minimum 33MHz i486SX CPU
• Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0: Minimum 16MB

installed RAM
Windows 3.1: Minimum 8MB installed RAM

• 32MB free hard disk space
• 1 serial port
• 3.5" floppy disk drive
• 1 RS-232C cable

(8) Installing the TWAIN system

Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0

* The following procedure will assume Floppy Drive A is available.

1. Start up Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0. Quit all other

applications that may be open.

2. Insert the TWAIN System Installer Disk into Drive A.

3. Click on Start in the Task Bar and then Run….

4. Type “a:\setup” in the Command Line dialogue box and then click

on OK.

5. The installation window will appear. Click on Install.

6. Click on Start. Installation will begin.

7. Once installation is complete, a message indicating whether the

installation was successful or not will be displayed. Click on OK.
The facsimile may now be used as a scanner.

Windows 3.1

* The following procedure will assume Floppy Drive A is available.

1. Start up Windows 3.1. Quit all other applications that may be open

and start up Program Manager.

2. Insert the TWAIN System Installer Disk into Drive A.

3. Use the mouse to point to File in the Menu Bar and click on Run…

in the drop-down menu which is displayed.

4. Type “a:\setup” in the Command Line dialogue box and then click

on OK.

5. The installation window will appear. Click on Install.

6. Click on Start. Installation will begin.

7. Once installation is complete, a message indicating whether the

installation was successful or not will be displayed. Click on OK.
The facsimile may now be used as a scanner.
