Setup dialogue box

In order to print out a file directly from within an application, it is NOT
necessary to open the Setup dialogue box. However, in order to
change such settings as the number of copies desired or to change
the orientation and size of the printout, it is necessary to control the
printing procedure from this dialogue box.
* There are some applications which allow you to make settings such

as the number of copies from within the application itself. In
general, such settings should be ignored, and only those settings in
the Setup dialogue box used. If the settings within the application
are used, they may be applied simultaneously with those in the
Setup dialogue box and unexpected results may occur in the
printout.

• Resolution

Normally, the most appropriate resolution is 600 dpi x 600 dpi.
However, there may be cases when the computer cannot send that
data at a speed sufficient for the printer. If such a system overrun
occurs, use the drop-down list in the Resolution window to change
the printing resolution setting to 300 dpi x 300 dpi.
* Select 300 dpi x 300 dpi when printing under PCL4.5 emulation.

• Paper size

Select the size of paper that is presently set in the printer. To change
the setting, use the Paper size drop-down list to select the
appropriate paper size.
Acceptable sizes of paper for use with this printer: A4 and FOLIO

• Paper source

If the Optional Cassette is installed, select the desired cassette for
paper feed. In this case, selecting Auto will allow the fax to
automatically select the size of paper most appropriate to the job.

• Compression method

To enable data compression, select the desired compression method
from the drop-down list. Select AUTO to have the software choose
the compression method most appropriate to the file to be printed.
Select Text when there is a large amount of text in the file to be
printed. Select Picture when there is a large amount of photographs,
graphics or illustrations in the file to be printed.

• Copies

When the Setup dialogue box is first opened, the Copies field will be
highlighted. Enter the desired number of copies (1 - 99) directly or
click on the arrows (

) (

) on the right side of the Copies field box

until the desired number is displayed.

• Orientation

Click on Portrait or Landscape, as desired.

Once you are finished with the settings above, click on OK. Then click
on Close in the Printers dialogue box.
