7. Press one-touch key No. 9 (“XYZ”) three times.

8. Press the (

) cursor key to register the displayed character.

9. Once character input is completed, press the ENTER FUNCTION

key.

Abbreviated Numbers

(1) Registering

Up to 100 fax numbers can be registered under abbreviated numbers.
Enter the desired fax number by simply pressing the 2-digit
abbreviated number (00 - 99) under which that number is registered.
* To confirm the fax numbers registered under each abbreviated

number, print out an Abbreviated number list. (Refer to “(3) Printing
Out the One-Touch Key and Abbreviated Number Lists”,
page 2-20.)

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter the

registered management password and then press the ENTER
FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your Access Code”, page 7-28.

1. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

2. Press the (

) cursor key until the following message appears in

the message display.

3. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

4. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key once again.

5. Use the keypad to enter 2 digits (00 - 99) corresponding to the

desired abbreviated number.

6. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

7. Use the keypad to enter the fax number to be registered under that

abbreviated number. (Max. 32 digits)

8. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

9. To designate this abbreviated number for F-Code based or

Encryption transmission, use the keypad to enter a SUB
(subaddress). (Max. 20 digits)
If you do NOT want to designate this abbreviated number for
F-Code based or Encryption transmission, proceed to step 12.
* The entered SUB (subaddress) will also be used as the SEP

(selective polling address).

10. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

11. Use the keypad to enter a SID (subaddress ID). (Max. 20 digits)

* If you do NOT want to register a subaddress ID for this

abbreviated number, proceed to step 12.

* The entered SID (subaddress ID) will also be used as the PWD

(F-Code password). As neither the SID nor PWD will be printed
out on any report or list, it is recommended that you keep some
sort of note of that information.

12. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

13. Enter the name of the other party. (Max. 16 characters)

* Refer to “

Entering Characters”, page 2-21, for more detailed

information on entering characters.

14. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

15. Press the cursor keys (

) (

) until the desired fax transmission

speed appears in the message display.

16. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

* If you did NOT enter a SUB (subaddress) in step 9, proceed to

step 21.

character is completed (by pressing the (
