Appendix 2: Error Code Tables
When a communications error occurs, one of the following error codes will be printed out on the corresponding Transmission report or
Reception report as well as the Activity report. Refer to the following tables for a more detailed explanation of the error.

Transmission or reception was attempted, but was unsuccessful because the
power was disconnected to the facsimile and the corresponding data was lost from

I-39 The image of the received or transmitted documents is no good. Lower the
transmission speed and perform the operation again or consult with your telephone
company. Transmission/Reception
I-40 The destination unit has run out of paper or its memory has become full.
Telephone the destination party and have them load paper or clear sufficient space
in memory, as appropriate. Transmission
I-41 Polling reception was attempted, but was unsuccessful because no documents had
been placed in the transmitting party’s unit or the documents were not placed
correctly. Telephone the transmitting party and have them set the documents for

Connection with the other party was not possible. There is a possibility that
communication with the other party’s fax cannot be accomplished in this state. It is
possible that your telephone line or the other party’s facsimile itself is out of order.
Check your telephone line and/or telephone the other party and have them check if

I-11 The destination is not a facsimile. Telephone the other party and check their fax

I-20 Transmission has been cancelled. Transmission
I-21 A document jam has occurred during transmission. Open the ADF cover, remove
the jammed document and attempt the transmission again. Transmission
I-23 Polling reception was attempted, but was unsuccessful because your memory
became full before all data was downloaded or there is some trouble with printing. Polling reception
I-25 Memory transmission was attempted, but was unsuccessful because of trouble
with the memory file. Check the documents remaining in memory.

I-44 An error occurred during ECM transmission. Attempt the transmission again. If the
trouble persists, contact your service representative, an authorised service centre
