Fax operation (Other functions)

Transmitting party

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter your

access code (or the registered management password) and then
press the ENTER FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your
Access Code”, page 7-28.

1. Set the documents to be transmitted and, if necessary, select the

desired resolution and contrast.
* If you want to designate a time for the transmission to begin,

press the DELAYED TX. key.

2. Press the FUNCTION key.

3. Press the (

) cursor key until the following message appears in

the message display.

4. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

5. Enter the destination fax number.

To send documents to multiple destinations, repeat steps

1

and

2

below until all desired fax numbers have been entered.

* The fax numbers can only be entered with abbreviated numbers,

one-touch keys or group dial keys that have been properly
designated for Encryption transmission. They cannot be entered
with the keypad.

* If “EXCEEDS MAX. DEST” appears in the message display, the

number of fax numbers entered exceeds the acceptable limit.

Enter a fax number.

Check the display and press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

* If you pressed the DELAYED TX. key at the beginning of the

procedure, press the ENTER FUNCTION key after all desired fax
numbers have been entered. A message that will allow you to
enter a desired start time will appear. Carry out steps 5 and 6 of
“Communication Using the Timer”, page 4-2.

6. Press the START key.

Scanning of the documents will begin.

Receiving party

1. Register the encryption key under the encryption key ID as agreed

to in advance with the transmitting party.
(Refer to “(1) Registering and Modifying Encryption Keys”, page 7-14.)
* If the encryption key has already been registered, proceed to

step 2.

* It is first necessary to enter the currently registered management

password before you can register an encryption key.

2. Register the corresponding Confidential box.

(Refer to “(1) Registering Confidential Boxes” page 7-7.)
* If the Confidential box has already been registered, proceed to

step 3.

3. When an Encryption transmission comes in from the transmitting

fax…
If the communication was successful, the documents will be
decrypted to their original form upon receipt and then stored in the
specified Confidential box.

4. Print out the documents from the Confidential box.

(Refer to “(4) Printing Out Documents from a Confidential Box”,
page 7-9.)

(2) Required Operation

In order to carry out Encryption communication…

The transmitting party must select the Confidential box in the
receiving party’s fax that it wants to transmit to and the
corresponding SUB (subaddress) the transmitting party enters
must match the Confidential box number designated for that
Confidential box, and

The corresponding SID (subaddress ID) the transmitting party
enters must match the Confidential box ID designated for that
same Confidential box, and

3

The encryption key and encryption key ID that both parties use
must match.

(3) Printing Out an Encryption Key List

Printing out this list enables the user to confirm the encryption keys
and encryption key IDs currently registered in this fax.
* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter the

registered management password and then press the ENTER
FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your Access Code”, page 7-28.

1. Press the PRINT REPORTS key.

2. Press the (

3. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

) cursor key once.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, proceed to step 7.

5. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

6. Use the keypad to enter the currently registered management

password.

7. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

An Encryption key list will be printed out.
