* The Restricted Access ON/OFF setting is complete. If you

selected “ON”, it is possible to continue the procedure and
register department codes. In this case, refer to “(2) Registering
Department Codes”, page 7-26, and carry out the procedure from
step 2.

9. Press the STOP key. The message display will revert to the initial

mode.

(2) Registering Department Codes

To enable Restricted access, it is necessary to register department
codes and each corresponding access code in this facsimile in
advance. Each department code is a 2-digit number from 01 to 50
and the access code for each department is a 4-digit number. A
maximum of 50 department codes can be registered in this facsimile.
Even when Restricted access is turned OFF, registered department
codes and their corresponding department names will be usable once
it is turned ON again.
In order to confirm registered department codes and their
corresponding department names, print out a Department list.
(Refer to “(6) Printing Out a Department List”, page 7-28.)
* No two access codes may be exactly the same, nor may an access

code be the same number as the management password.

* Once a department code has been registered, it may not be

changed. To change a registered department code, delete it and
then register the desired code anew.

* It is first necessary to enter the registered management password

before you can access this procedure. (Refer to “(7) Changing the
Management Password”, page 7-28.)

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

1. Carry out steps 1 - 8 of “(1) Restricted Access ON/OFF”, at left,

and turn Restricted access ON.

2. Use the keypad to enter the desired department code (01 - 50).

3. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

* If “ALREADY REGISTERED” appears in the message display,

the entered department code is already registered and you will
NOT be able to proceed to step 4. In this case, press the STOP
key and perform the operation once again from the beginning.

4. Use the keypad to enter the desired 4-digit access code.

> The following functions of the unit are available without the need to

enter a viable access code or the registered management password.

• Copying (including Sort, Group and Duplex copying)
• Dialling with a separately purchased telephone
• Manual transmission and reception when the call is initiated by the

other party

• Activity report print out

Other notes

• If Restricted access is turned ON, only those sets of documents

scheduled under the same department code will be pooled together
under the Batch transmission function. All documents that were
scheduled under different department codes will be sent during
different transmissions. (Refer to “(6) Batch transmission”,
page 2-11.)

• If the Restricted access report setting is set to “ON”, a Restricted

access report will be automatically printed out upon reaching 40
individual transactions. (Refer to “(1) Automatic Print Out”,
page 8-5.)

* To enable Restricted access, it is necessary to register department

Department Codes”, page 7-26.)

* To turn Restricted access ON or OFF, it is first necessary to enter

the registered management password before you can access the
procedure. (Refer to “(7) Changing the Management Password”,
page 7-28.)

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter the

registered management password and then press the ENTER
FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your Access Code”, page 7-28.

3. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, proceed to step 6.

4. Use the keypad to enter the registered management password.

* Factory default setting: 6482

5. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

* If the entered password does not match the registered one, the

message display will return to step 4.

6. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.
