8. If there are no documents already in memory waiting for a polling

request, proceed to step 10.
If there are documents already in memory waiting for a polling
request, the following message will appear in the message display.
Use the cursor keys (

) (

) to select whether or not you want to

add documents to the transmission.

> If you select “YES”…
The set documents will be added to those already in memory.
* The page number for each set of added documents will begin from

“1” again.

> If you select “NO”…
The procedure will be cancelled and the message display will revert
to the initial mode.

9. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

10. Press the START key.

Scanning of the documents will begin.

(3) Polling Reception

To carry out Polling reception, the receiving party dials the number of
the transmitting fax, triggering transmission of the documents set in
that other fax machine. Reception of documents from more than one
transmitting fax can be designated during a single procedure and it is
possible for the receiving party to use the timer to have the
documents received at a time convenient to them.
* If all of the fax numbers are entered using abbreviated numbers,

one-touch keys or group dial keys, this fax is capable of
automatically receiving documents from up to 145 different fax
machines in a single operation. A Multi-polling report will be printed
out after those operations which involved reception of documents
from multiple facsimiles.

* Polling reception is only possible if the transmitting party has first

performed the necessary Polling transmission operations.

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter your

access code (or the registered management password) and then
press the ENTER FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your
Access Code”, page 7-28.

* If you want to designate a time for the reception to begin, press the

DELAYED TX. key.

* If Restricted access is turned ON and you entered your access

code in the beginning of the procedure, proceed to step 3.

(2) Memory Polling Transmission

To scan documents into memory and have them transmitted when a
polling request is received, the transmitting party is required to carry
out the following procedure. It is possible to add documents to a
transmission that is already in memory waiting for a polling request.
In addition, the data for the documents will ordinarily be deleted
immediately after they are transmitted, but, if the Bulletin Board
function is turned ON, the documents will remain in memory and will
be available to an unlimited number of polling requests. (Refer to
“Bulletin Board Function ON/OFF”, page 9-7.)
* To carry out a Memory Polling transmission, make sure that the

MEMORY TX. indicator is lit.

* To cancel a Memory polling transmission, refer to “

Cancelling a

Communication which is Awaiting a Start Time”, page 2-18, for
more detailed information.

* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.

The message display will revert to the initial mode.

* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter your

access code (or the registered management password) and then
press the ENTER FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your
Access Code”, page 7-28.

1. Set the documents to be transmitted and, if necessary, select the

desired resolution and contrast.

2. Press the FUNCTION key.

* If Restricted access is turned ON and you entered your access

code in the beginning of the procedure, proceed to step 4.

4. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.

5. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key once again.

* If the optional Dual Line Kit is installed, proceed to step 6. If it is

NOT installed, proceed to step 8.

6. Use the cursor keys (

) to select which line (the 1st line or the

2nd line) will be used for the polling operation.
