4. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.
5. Press the ( 씰 ) cursor key once.

* If the optional Dual Line Kit is installed, proceed to step 7. If it is
NOT installed, proceed to step 9.
7. Use the cursor keys ( 씱 ) ( 씰 ) to select which line (the 1st line or the
2nd line) will be used for the polling operation.
8. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.
9. Use the keypad to enter the 4-digit Confidential box number
corresponding to the desired Confidential box.
10. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key. If there are no documents in
the Confidential box and waiting for a polling request, proceed to
step 12.
* If there are documents already in the Confidential box waiting
for a polling request, the following message will appear in the
message display. Use the cursor keys (
씱 ) ( 씰 ) to select
whether or not you want to add documents to the transmission.
* If “WRONG BOX NO.” appears in the message display, there is
no Confidential box registered under the entered Confidential
box number and the display will return to step 9. Enter the
correct box number or register a new Confidential box under the
desired number. (Refer to “(1) Registering Confidential Boxes”,
page 7-7.)
> If you select “YES”…
The set documents will be added to those already in memory.
* The page number for each set of added documents will begin from
“1” again.
> If you select “NO”…
The procedure will be cancelled and the message display will revert
to the initial mode.
11. Press the ENTER FUNCTION key.
12. Press the START key.
Scanning of the documents will begin.
(1) Registering Confidential Boxes
* To cancel the procedure part way through, press the STOP key.
The message display will revert to the initial mode.
* If Restricted access is turned ON, it is first necessary to enter the
registered management password and then press the ENTER
FUNCTION key. Refer to “(5) Entering Your Access Code”, page 7-28.

F-Code based Confidential communication involves the addition of
F-Code commands (page 2-8) to a standard Confidential
communication. In order to carry out F-Code based Confidential
communication, it is necessary for the receiving party to register a
Confidential box in advance. As a separate operation is required
as well in order to print out the received documents at the receiving
party’s fax, this function is convenient to keep documents strictly
confidential.
F-Code based Confidential communication will only be successful
if the SUB (subaddress) that the transmitting party enters matches
the registered Confidential box number corresponding to the
destination Confidential box and, if the receiving party registered a
Confidential box ID for that box as well, the SID (subaddress ID)
that the transmitting party enters must match that box ID. When
receiving documents into a Confidential box registered in this fax,
the Confidential box number and box ID are both 4-digit numbers.
* To enable F-Code based Confidential communication, the other
party’s fax must also possesses F-Code based capabilities.
* A maximum of 10 Confidential boxes can be registered in this
fax.
* The same SUB (subaddress) and SID (subaddress ID) cannot be
used for both a Confidential box and a Relay box at the same
time.
