... All other characters are printed as is. The format can be
provided via the environment variable LOGFORMAT.
• -V — This option makes the control characters visible. They are printed as
\X if they have a special C notation. Otherwise, they are printed as
<NNN>, where NNN is the octal value.
Environment Variables
Environment variables are checked whenever the related command
argument is missing from the command line. If both the command argument
and the environment variable are missing, the specified default is used.
LOGROOT
This variable is the directory in which the textLogFmt is found, containing
the expansion formats. Also, the directory in which the data
directory is
found if LOGDATA is not specified.
