Before attempting to configure Access Manager to send alarm reports to
another compute , you must first enter

SERIAL DEVICE

for the

Access Arrangement of a Comline

in the Comlines Definition

screen. In other words, the only time you can use

COMx

(where

x

is a

number) in the

Alarm Printer Filename

field is when you have

defined the comline for a serial device.

CAUTION

However, if you’re using an actual serial printer, you cannot use a
name such as

COM1

do, Access Manager may halt. Instead, you must enter LPT1 or LPT2

Edit Report Printer Configuration screen, and then use the

MODE command from DOS to redirect the LPT port to a non-
