4.3 Detector

Your specific system configuration and space constraints will determine what you
need to connect the light output from the sensor feedthrough to one or more
detectors. Couplings, extension tubes, filters, and many other optical components
are available from INFICON and a variety of other suppliers, such as those listed
at the beginning of this chapter.

The detector uses a Thorlabs BC1 mounting plate to interface to other optical
components. Several tapped mounting holes are provided on the mounting plate
to attach the unit to external brackets or lens tubes.

Figure 4-6 Mounting Plate

The detector may be mounted in any orientation, but should be protected from
sources of mechanical shock or vibrations, such as might be generated by valve
actuators or mechanical pumps.

The EIES detector has a 1 in. (25 mm) internal threaded coupling (IPN 070-1622)
on the optical inlet. A standard 1 in. (25 mm) round optical filter fits into the coupling
and is held in place by a retaining ring, see

Figure 4-7

.

4.3.1 Detector Cable(s)

Connect each PMT Detector Module to one of the eight EIES detector Module
inputs 1 through 8 on the Guardian rear panel with 9-pin Detector cable(s), IPN
782-505-065, 10 ft. (3 m) or 782-505-065-40, 40 ft. (12 m).

CAUTION

Be sure power to the PMT Detector Module is turned off
whenever the PMT is exposed to room light to avoid
damage to the PMT.
