Chapter 8

8-47

Ejector Fully Retracted Position Setpoint

(EPC60)
This setpoint defines the ejector position when fully retracted. The QDC
module uses this position as the end-of-full-retract position setpoint. If
reached while the QDC module is executing a full retract ejector stroke,
the QDC module immediately terminates the retract stroke and checks
EPC03-B12 (continue or stop/notify) to determine its next action.

To determine this position setpoint, we recommend that you jog the ejector
to its fully retracted position and observe the value in SYS28 (N40:180).
Record this initial value for EPC60.

The valve spanning procedures in chapter 9 require this initial value. For
additional information to help you select a correct final value, refer to the
Plastic Molding Module Reference Manual (publication 1771-6.5.88).

Clamp Position for Start of Ejector Profile

(EPC61)
The QDC module uses this setpoint as the clamp position at which it starts
ejector movement during any clamp open profile if you configured the
QDC module to start the profile on clamp position (EPC03-B08 = 0).

Record a value for EPC61 equal to the mold open position (OPC62).

The valve spanning procedures in chapter 9 require this initial value. We
help you select a correct final value for your application in chapter 10. For
additional information, refer to the Plastic Molding Module Reference
Manual (publication 1771-6.5.88)

Clamp Position for Ejector Inhibit

(EPC62)
The QDC module uses this clamp position as protection against starting or
continuing any ejector profile when clamp clearance is not adequate for
full ejector travel.

If the clamp position is equal to or less than this setpoint when the QDC

module is commanded to start (or continues) an ejector profile, the QDC
module ignores the command and sets alarm bit SYS14-B09 (B34/217).

If the clamp attains a position equal to or less than this setpoint during

execution of an ejector profile, the QDC module sets its outputs to zero
and sets alarm bit SYS14-B09 (B34/217).
