Load Initial Profile Setpoints

Chapter 8

8-48

To determine this clamp position, jog the clamp open and measure the gap
between the two mold halves. When the gap equals the ejector-fully-
advanced position setpoint (EPC 59), observe the position reported in
SYS27 (N40:179). Record this observed position (N40:179) as your initial
setpoint for EPC62.

The valve spanning procedures in chapter 9 require this initial value. We
help you select a correct final value for your application in chapter 10. For
additional information, refer to the Plastic Molding Module Reference
Manual (publication 1771-6.5.88)

Ejector Position for Clamp Close Enable

(EPC63)
The QDC module uses this ejector position as protection against starting or
continuing any clamp close profile when the ejector is not safe.

If the ejector position is greater than this setpoint when the QDC

module is commanded to start a clamp close profile, the QDC module
ignores the command and sets alarm bit SYS14/B08 (B34/216).

If the ejector attains a position greater than this setpoint during

execution of a clamp close profile, the QDC module sets its outputs to
zero and sets alarm bit SYS14-B08 (B34/216).

ATTENTION: Verify that your ejector jog pressure and flow
values are set low enough to guard against damaging ejector
pins when advancing them against the closed clamp, next.

To determine this position (EPC63), we recommend that you jog the clamp
closed until the two mold halves mate. Then jog the ejector toward its fully
advanced position while constrained by the closed mold and observe the
value in SYS28 (N40:180). Record this as your initial value for EPC63.

The valve spanning procedures in chapter 9 require this initial value. We
help you select a correct final value for your application in chapter 10. For
additional information, refer to the Plastic Molding Module Reference
Manual (publication 1771-6.5.88)

Ejector Strokes Required

(EPC64)
The QDC module uses this counter preset to determine how many times
the ejector must attain one of its advanced positions (EPC59 or EPC29)
during the ejector profile before the QDC module starts the final full-
retract portion of the ejector profile.

Important: A zero entry inhibits the entire ejector profile.
