Chapter 15 Auxiliary Channel Analyzer

Monitoring the DisplayPort auxiliary channel

This subsection provides procedures on monitoring the auxiliary channels of the
DisplayPort interface. The DisplayPort interface uses the auxiliary channel for link training
and HDCP as well as I2C emulation for EDID reads.

Note: The Auxiliary Channel Analyzer for DisplayPort is an optional feature.

You can monitor the auxiliary channel while the 882E is emulating a DisplayPort device or
you can monitor the auxiliary channel passively between two DisplayPort devices. In the
first case, the 882E can emulate a DisplayPort source to monitor its aux channel
transactions with a DisplayPort sink device under test. Or you can have the 882E emulate
a DisplayPort sink device to monitor its auxiliary channel transactions with a DisplayPort
source device under test.

For passive monitoring you connect two DisplayPort devices, a source device and a sink
device, through the 882E and monitor the auxiliary channel transactions between the two
devices passively.

The following procedures provide instructions on how to monitor the auxiliary channel
between the 882E and a DisplayPort sink device under test.
