Right-Clicking on Buttons

Once a button is placed on the menu, right-clicking on it opens a pop-up menu providing a
number of settings for it:

Linking to a Movie – Placing your cursor over Movies displays a list of movies that

have been imported into SpruceUp. Placing your cursor over one of the movies
displays the Chapter Points it contains. By default all movies have at least one Chapter
Point at their start. Add additional Chapter Points by double-clicking on the movie in
the Media Gallery to open the Clip Properties dialog. See the Clip Properties topic for
details.

Linking to a Menu – Placing your cursor over Menus displays a list of menus that

have buttons assigned to them. Placing your cursor over one of the menus displays a
list of buttons on that menu. Selecting a button defines the default button that
highlights when the menu appears, but does not actually press it. Menus without
buttons are not available to be linked this way.

You can also link a menu to a button by simply dragging the menu from the Menu
Gallery to the button. This has the drawback of not allowing you to choose a default
button - button one is automatically assigned. This method has the advantage of
working with menus that have no buttons.

Bring Button to Front – Makes this the highest priority button. This is important only

when buttons overlap. See the Overlapping Buttons topic for details. Note that text
items are always in front of buttons.

Send Button to Back – Makes this the lowest priority button.
Delete Target – Removes the link assigned to this button. If it is a thumbnail frame

button, then its thumbnail reverts to the current menu's background.

Properties – Opens the Button Properties dialog discussed below.
Drop Shadow Properties – Opens the Drop Shadow Properties dialog showing the

settings for this button. See the Adding Drop Shadows topic for more information.

The Button Properties Dialog

The Button Properties dialog allows you to assign a URL to a button, similar to the Chapter
Point URLs assigned in the Clip Properties dialog.
Each button can have a "URL" assigned to it. A "URL" refers to a web site's Universal
Resource Locator, an example being:
http://www.sprucetechnologies.com

When entering a URL, be sure to include the entire name.
URLs are not the only entry you can make here - you can enter the path and file name for
anything that can be recognized and executed. For example, entering:
C:\Documents\SpruceUp.PDF

would cause the file SpruceUp.PDF located in the C: drive's Documents directory to execute,
launching Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view it.
To launch a file residing on a SpruceUp created DVD-ROM disc being played (regardless of
the its drive letter) enter:
DVD:\SpruceUp.PDF
