SpruceUp User’s Guide

9—5

Set a Chapter Point by scrubbing to the desired point and clicking the Add Chapter Point
button. Red indicates the current Chapter Point, either by selecting or creating it.

Add Chapter Point Button

You can also drag existing Chapter Points to new positions if desired.
Each Chapter Point can be named, making it easier to identify them. This is especially useful
when assigning Chapter Points to buttons while creating menus. SpruceUp automatically
names each Chapter Point "Chapter X" where the "X" is an incrementing number. Note that
this number is based on the order you create the points, not the order they occur. Type
your desired name in at the Chapter Point Name box.

Use the arrows on each side of the name to select surrounding Chapter Points.

The URL Setting

Each Chapter Point can have a "URL" assigned to it. A "URL" refers to a web site's Universal
Resource Locator, an example being:
www.SpruceDVD.com
When entering a URL, be sure to include the entire name.
URLs are not the only entry you can make here - you can enter the path and file name for
anything that can be recognized and executed. For example, entering:
C:\Documents\SpruceUp.PDF
would cause the file SpruceUp.PDF located in the C: drive's Documents directory to execute,
launching Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view it.

See the SpruceUp's "URL" Entry topic for more information on what can be set here.
Not all DVD players process the information entered here - currently set-top players ignore
it. Since the typical reason to use this is to open a web browser or view a document, it
actually lends itself to PC applications in any case. SpruceUp supplies DVD player software
called Syzygy that processes these entries. See the Export Dialog topic for details on
including the player with your title.

Setting the EyeFrame™

The EyeFrame defines the video thumbnail that represents each Chapter Point. The first
Chapter Point's EyeFrame displays in the Media Gallery; each other Chapter Point's
EyeFrame displays when they are assigned to menu buttons.

By default, the EyeFrame is set to match the Chapter Point. Often this video frame does not
actually show what you would like to represent that particular Chapter Point. For example,
movies often start with a fade-to-black, creating a very dull thumbnail. As with Chapter
Points, EyeFrames must occur on MPEG I-Frames.
Change the EyeFrame by first selecting the Chapter Point you want to set. Do this by
clicking on its flag on the timeline - it turns red, indicating it is now active. The EyeFrame
icon moves to its current position for that Chapter Point and displays the video frame in the
Eye Preview in the lower left corner of the dialog. Change it by dragging the EyeFrame icon
to the desired point (on either side of the Chapter Point). Alternatively, click on the arrows
on either side of the preview to step through the I Frames available within the movie.
