Simulation

A typical DVD title contains a number of links, where pressing a button causes a
jump to a different menu or a movie to start playing at a specified Chapter
Point. Simulation is a tool to verify the button links work correctly before
exporting the title to DVD or CD.

Start the simulator by clicking the Simulate button in the Main Control area or use the
shortcut of Ctrl + 2. Following are the buttons that appear on the Work Area's Toolbar.

Using the Simulator

As mentioned previously, the primary reason for simulating a title is to ensure the buttons
link as expected. The most common problem is providing a path to a menu that then has no
way back out except to go to the root menu.
It can be helpful to make a connections drawing as you create the menus and add the
buttons, especially with complex projects. This provides a good guide while simulating.

Feel free to jump between the Author and Simulate modes as often as you wish – you do
not have to wait until the project is complete to use Simulation.

Tip: If you get a black screen when simulating using the WinDVD

preview decoder, check your system's Display Properties. Set your
system's Color Palette setting to 16-bit (65,536 colors), and depending on
your Graphic's card, set your Resolution to 1600x1200 or below.

Warning: Do not have other DVD players (including the Syzygy

player) running on your system while in Simulation mode. This causes
conflicts within the system.
