SpruceUp User’s Guide

Assets

SpruceUp uses three types of assets: movies (video and audio), backgrounds, and buttons.
These assets are managed in the Main Window’s Media Gallery, each with its own tab along
the top.

Assets in SpruceUp Projects

When you save a SpruceUp project, it creates a ".SUP" file. This is a small file that does not
actually contain the actual assets – it contains the information on where the assets were
and how they were used. It knows the details of the menus and any properties applied to
the movies.
When you open a SpruceUp project, it looks for all the assets in the same places as they
were when the project was saved, and prompts you to manually locate the any missing
files.

Tip: Use great care in handling assets used in SpruceUp projects. Do

not rename their folders or move them without taking the impact on
previous projects into consideration.

Asset Properties

Right-click on any background or button asset to open a pop-up menu with a Properties
item. For movies, select File Properties from the pop-up menu. Selecting Properties (or
File Properties for movies) opens a menu displaying details about the asset. These include
its file name, size, location, and type. There is also an Explore... button that starts
Window's Explorer.

Important Differences Between Asset Types

It is important to understand that SpruceUp handles each asset type differently, even
though they may appear similar on the surface.

Understanding the Style Gallery

First you must understand the concept of the Style Gallery. The Style Gallery is a very
useful tool when creating projects, in that it makes it easy to select theme-based assets
before starting. It provides an easy way to create categories of assets.
Style Galleries only apply to Background and Button assets. The Style Gallery determines
what is shown in the Media Gallery when their tabs are selected, and thus controls what
backgrounds and buttons can be used in a project. You can use different Style Galleries
while creating a project with no problem; once a background or button has been used as
part of a menu it is retained there u-18.ge (a)2(n8.9(u)9( t)11.2.9(d)0.6.4( ar)e)20(d)11.nu it c(-18.g.2.9(d)0.6.4,(-1.n)9(u)9( it)1g*0.0147 Tc-0.0169 d)0.6.4.9(u)99(-18.g9(-18.ge1.2(a)12.9(r)19w)1369 (in)ic(-18.g(in))-1 o)19( t)e tnes
