SpruceUp User’s Guide

General Asset Information

See the Video Assets, Audio Assets, Background Assets, and Button Assets topics for details
on each type.

Note: It is critical that movies imported into SpruceUp be DVD

compliant. The most common problem with audio is improper sample rate
– it must be sampled at a 48Khz rate. With video, most problems are
improper aspect ratios and bit-rates. See the
MPEG Settings Summary
topic for general details.

There are several programs available that can verify a movie's MPEG settings. PixelTools'
MpegRepair (www.pixeltools.com) and Interra's MProbe (www.interra-video.com) are both
well suited for this.

Parsed File

Whenever you import backgrounds and movies into SpruceUp, a parsing operation must
occur. Parsing creates the ".PRV" (for video) and ".PRA" (for audio) files that contain
information about the basic MPEG structure of its parent file, such as encoding rate, GOP
structure, and such.
For example, importing a background named “Flowers.bmp” causes the “Flowers.m2v” and
a “Flowers.m2v.PRV” files to be created and written to that Style Gallery’s MPEG Converted
folder.
