Style Gallery).
The Clip Properties dialog has the ability to grab backgrounds from a movie. These
backgrounds are added to the Backgrounds tab of the Media Gallery, and written as files to
the current Style Gallery. See the Clip Properties topic for more information.
SpruceUp remembers the Style Gallery last used and loads it when started the next time.
Opening an existing project does not change the current Style Gallery, since Style Galleries
are not saved with Projects.
See the Style Gallery topic for more information on its usage.

Importing Differences

As mentioned above, when you import a background or button, it is actually copied to the
Style Gallery. In addition, the file is converted to MPEG, with the MPEG converted file
(.m2v) and a parsed (.m2v.PRV) file written to the Style Gallery's MPEG Converted folder.
Background and button assets can be imported from any media the PC supports (including
read-only media).
When you import a movie though, it is not copied anywhere – SpruceUp uses the original
movie. (Since movies can be very large files, you could quickly run out of disc space, and
SpruceUp projects can contain up to 99 movies.) Importing a movie does require a parsed
file to be written to the movie's location though. For this reason the movie must be located
on writable media (CD-ROM or DVD-ROM will not work).
See the Import topic for details on other aspects of importing assets.

Deleting Within SpruceUp

Right-clicking on a movie within the Media Gallery presents the option of Delete Reference
to Movie
. Selecting this does not actually affect the movie – it simply removes it from the
list of assets.

Note: If the movie had been linked to menu buttons in this project,

those links no longer work.

Right-clicking on a background or button within the Media Gallery presents the option to
Delete Background or Delete Button. In this case, the background or button's file is
really deleted.

Warning: You cannot delete a background or button currently being

used by the project. An error message mentioning a "sharing violation"
displays.

Note: If you load a project that used a background or button you

deleted, you are prompted to locate the file manually or cancel opening the
project.
