Registering SpruceUp
SpruceUp is distributed in two forms: a full bundled or retail version and a trial version.
Both versions must be registered to enable full functionality – only the trial version requires
a payment to be made.
The Registration ID
SpruceUp creates a unique Registration ID each time you install SpruceUp. This ID is based
on the SpruceUp version being installed, the serial number you enter (if you have one), and
certain aspects of the PC you are installing on. This ID is valid only for this installation on
this PC – if you must re-install SpruceUp on this or any other PC, SpruceUp creates a new
Registration ID.
The Software Enabling Key
The software enabling key is generated specifically for the current SpruceUp installation on
this PC only, based on the Registration ID. Reinstalling SpruceUp requires you to get a new
enabling key (at no cost as long as you know the serial number). The key cannot be used
on other PCs, even with the same SpruceUp version.
What is the Trial Version?
The Trial Version mode has the complete functionality of the full version with the following
restrictions:
• You are limited to two exports.
• All menus contain the "SpruceUp Trial" watermark.
• The Simulation and Clip Properties modes will not play Dolby Digital AC-3 audio.
Feel free to let others install your trial copy of SpruceUp. In fact, there is an option in the
Export Dialog to include a copy with exported discs.
Is Mine a Full Version?
Full versions of SpruceUp will have a 13-digit serial number sticker on or in the CD's case.
Note: The above number is a sample, and will not actually work.
This number must be entered twice to enable the full version:
• In the Welcome to SpruceUp dialog displayed when you start SpruceUp the first
time. SpruceUp uses this number to generate a Registration ID unique to that
installation on that PC.
• At the registration web site (as covered later on).
The Welcome to SpruceUp Dialog
The Welcome to SpruceUp Dialog (as shown following) appears only once – the first time
you start SpruceUp after installing the software.
