Using SpruceUp's Button Maker

The Button Maker function appears when you select the button tab in the Media Gallery.
Click the triangle on its left side to open its dialog. Clicking the triangle again closes it.

There are two powerful things Button Maker allows you to
do:
• Easily create simple buttons with colors that
complement your menu background.
• Easily create transparent buttons. It can be very useful
to have transparent buttons, with the background
providing the button cues to the viewer. For example, you
may want them to click on a person's face or on text built
into the background.

There are five settings:

Line Color – This sets the color of the line surrounding the button. Click its color box

to select a preset color. Click Other at the bottom of the preset selector to open the
standard color selection dialog, allowing you to select a custom color. See the Using
the Color Dialog
topic for details.

Fill Color – This sets the fill color of the button. Change its color the same way you

change the line's color.

Line Width – This sets the width of the line around the button. Its range is from 0 (no

line) to 10 (widest line).

Type – Selects one of three button shapes available: Oval, Rectangle, and Rounded.
Opacity – Controls the transparency of the button when placed on the menu. This

setting affects the line and fill. Drag the Opacity pointer to the left to make the button
less opaque; dragging to the right makes it less transparent. The checkerboard
graphic in the sample window provides a guide as to how transparent the button is - it
is not part of the button.

General Usage

Making a button with Button Maker is very easy; set the above mentioned settings as
desired then drag the button from the sample window onto the menu background in the
Work Area.
All Button Maker buttons have the same size and aspect ratio when initially placed on the
menu. Once they are dropped though, you can change the size and ratio as with all buttons
– simply drag on its corners.
Following are some usage notes to be aware of:

• Buttons can only be dragged onto the Work Area - they cannot be dragged to the

Media or Menu Galleries.

• Selecting a button in the Work Area created by Button Maker causes the Button Maker

settings to change to match it. This makes it easy to duplicate the button.

• To change a Button Maker button's attributes, simply click on the button (causing

Button Maker's dialog to match it), change the settings needing changed, then drag
the sample area button over the original button.
