12—19

• Audio Subsystem that supports up to 48Khz stereo playback (PCI desirable)

Note: The Syzygy player will not run on an Apple OS.

Bypassing Autorun

By default, when you include the Syzygy player with your title, an autorun.inf file is also
included. This file is read by the system when the disc is inserted, and starts loading the
Syzygy player to start playing the disc automatically.

Hold down the system's Shift button while inserting the disc to bypass the autorun file. You
need to hold the button down for as long as it takes the system to spin the drive up and
check the disc.

Syzygy Playback Problems

This lists the known issues with the current version of the Syzygy player. To determine the
version of your player, locate the Syzygy.exe file, right-click on it and select Properites.
Select the Version tab – the File Version: setting the following is based on is 1,0,2,0.

for updated information.

Skips the First Menu

DVD players are supposed to play the First Play item (which could be a menu or a movie)
when starting a disc. A problem with the current version of Syzygy is that it ignores the First
Play item if it is a menu, and instead starts playing the first movie it sees.

The work-around is to place a very short (one frame) movie with Black video as the First
Play item. SpruceUp has a suitable movie available at the support site:
http://www.spruceuserforums.com/SpruceUp

Playing on Systems with Two Drives

Systems with two CD and/or DVD drives may have trouble playing the disc. The Syzygy
player defaults to playing from the first DVD drive it finds, even if the disc was inserted into
a different drive! With no DVD drives on the system, it then looks to the first CD drive it
finds. The work-around is to insert the disc into the drive it is trying to play from.

Other Players Cause Conflicts

Problems can occur if the system contains another DVD player that is set to automatically
start when a disc with a Video_ts folder is found. The work-around depends on the other
player:
• Try to defeat the player's auto-start feature

• Hold the Shift button down while inserting the disc and manually start the Syzygy player
from the disc by either double-clicking on the drive in your My Computer window or using
Windows Explorer to find the Syzygy.exe file in the \IVI\WINDVD\ folder, and double-
clicking it.

Using a different player to play the disc is not actually a problem – the issue is with the URL
settings. Most current DVD players do not process the URL settings.
