Postpone Timer

The Postpone Timer indicates the delay a receiving channel waits before issuing a
Receiver Ready (RR) packet in case a data packet becomes available to carry the
acknowledgment of the received data packet. A value of zero disables the function
and an RR packet is sent after receiving each data packet. The selections are 0 to
512, 1.

Network layer

The network layer parameter specifies the protocol layer used by the IP PAD to
communicate with the outside world. Since this is an IP PAD, the sublayer is
mostly IP layer. This parameter is reserved for future protocol stacks options.
There are no selections. The default is IP layer.

Delete IP PAD Application

Setting a Y in this field and pressing F9 or F10 removes the IP PAD application
from the configuration.

Restart Request Timer

After the MultiPro unit sends a Restart Request packet to the remote unit, it waits
up to the Restart Request Timer value before declaring the link down. The
selections are 1 to 255, 15.

Reset Request Timer

After the MultiPro unit sends a Reset packet to the remote unit, it waits up to the
Reset Request Timer value before declaring a channel failure. The selections are 1
to 255, 15.

Recovery Counter

The Recovery Counter parameter indicates the maximum number of times a
reset-and-clear procedure is attempted before a failure is detected. The selections
are decimal 1 to 255, 3.

Modulo 128

The VC Modulo parameter indicates how the packets are to be numbered. To use
numbers 0 through 7, N (no). To use numbers 0 through 127, select Y (yes). The
selections are N and Y.

Number of VCs

The Number of VCs field defines the maximum number of virtual circuits (VCs)
that can be established on a link. The number entered should be equal to or higher
than the actual number of devices requiring VCs that are connected through the
link at one time. The number of VCs available is split between the remote pads
configured. They constitute a bank of channels for connections and are allocated
dynamically on a FIFO basis. The selections are a decimal 0 to 512, 64.
