Line Module

This field indicates the line module number of the displayed port. Entering a
different line module number and pressing F10 transfers the screen to the same
port on the new line module.

Copy IP Parameters

The fields on this line work together to allow copying an existing port
configuration to the current port.

Configuration.

Enter the configuration number where the stations to be copied reside.

Module.

This parameter represents the line module number in the source unit.

IP address

The IP address corresponds to the IP address of the port corresponding to the link
layer (parameter). In the case of Ethernet, the TXPORT device's connection to the
Ethernet LAN should have an IP address to be able to receive datagrams. Also,
since a datagram contains both the destination and source addresses, the TXPORT
device's IP address is inserted in the source IP address field of all datagrams sent
by the TXPORT unit with the exception of frames sent by a proxy ARP. The
network identifier (NETID) of the IP address must match the NETID of the
network the TXPORT device is connected to. The selections for this field range
from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.

Subnet mask

The subnet mask corresponds to the bits in the IP address corresponding to the
NETID. The IP address is logically ANDed with the subnet mask to obtain the
NETID. The bits from the IP address that are masked by the subnet mask are
defined as the HOSTID. The HOSTID represents a particular device on a network.
Then the IP address of a device is constituted of a NETID and a HOSTID.

When the subnet mask is not known, the field can be left as null. The IP Layer
automatically sends an ICMP request using the router solicitation address as the
destination IP address if the router address is defined. If the solicitation address is
not defined, the IP broadcast address is used. If no response is received after the
ICMP retry request counter, the default value is used. The subnet mask default
value is based on the IP address class.

The selections for this field range from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.
