Figure 14-3 shows a typical application of the IP PAD where an existing IP
backbone is used to transfer legacy traffic to a central site. In this diagram, there
are two groups of T27 connecting to a CP2000 front end processor. At each remote
site, there are IBM terminals connecting to the mainframe at the data center. Since
an IP backbone is already installed, the legacy traffic will use this backbone for
transfer.
