3.1.13 Converting a CPP Sensor Signal Into a 12 Volt signal via Conversion Module

Use this configuration if you want the Clutch Input to come from a Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Sensor. This
configuration allows the clutch position signal to be sent to the Clutch Input on the NCC-002, allowing the

Analog1 input

feature to be connected to other sensors. This configuration is intended for vehicles equipped

with clutch pedal position sensors ONLY. While the clutch pedal position switch puts out a switched 12 volt
signal when a certain clutch pedal position is reached, the clutch pedal position sensor puts out a signal that
ranges anywhere between 0-5 volts depending on the position of the pedal. Because of this, the signal from the
clutch pedal position switch can be sent directly to the Clutch Input on the NCC-002, but the signal from the
clutch pedal position sensor cannot. You can either connect the CPP sensor to the Analog1 Input or use a
conversion module to connect it to the Clutch Input. In order to use the signal from the clutch pedal position
sensor to activate the clutch input, the 0-5 volt signal from the sensor has to be converted into the switched 12
volt signal that the Clutch Input on the NCC-002 is looking for. This conversion can be accomplished through
the use of a Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module. The Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module
receives the 0-5 volt signal from the clutch pedal position sensor and puts out a 0 or 12 volt signal to disable or
enable the clutch input on the NCC-002.

NOTE: While the conversion module that LPE used for this function is no longer available, a new
version is currently in development. There are other manufacturers who are currently producing this
type of conversion module.

Locate the Clutch Pedal Position sensor (CPP). This sensor is usually mounted on the clutch pedal
assembly.

Remove the loom from the wires and locate the +5 volt signal wire that connects the CPP to the ECM.

Mount the Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module to the vehicle.

Splice the +5 volt signal input wire from the Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module to the +5 volt CPP
signal wire from the CCP.

Connect the Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module ground wire to a reliable ground source.

Connect the Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module +12 volt power wire to a fused +12 volt power
source

Connect the Clutch/TPS switch signal conversion module +12 volt output wire to the "Clutch Input" terminal on
the NCC-002 Controller.

Program the conversion module per the manufacturer's specifications.

Program the

Clutch Input Polarity

on the NCC-002 controller.
