Auto Pk-Pk performs the same function as
Auto and, in addition, automatically sets the
trigger level based on the peak-to-peak
amplitude of the signal. For many signals
this will provide a fully automatic trigger
system. For slow rate signals and complex
level patterns, it may not produce the desired
display. Use Normal mode if this occurs.

Normal mode uses only the user specified
trigger conditions. No automatic actions
are taken.

Free Run generates horizontal sweep without
regard to trigger conditions. This mode is
useful for locating low duty-cycle events
visually.

Only one main trigger (A trigger) source is
needed to capture data on a single or
dual-channel instrument. The trigger source
can be a measurement channel (internal
trigger), Channel 1 or Channel 2 (dual
channel models only), or the external trigger
channel associated with each measurement
channel, Trigger 1 or Trigger 2 (dual channel
models only).

Specifications for the trigger source are
provided in Section 1.6, Table1-2. Internal
triggering occurs when the level of the

measurement channel signal crosses the

specified trigger level in the direction
(positive-going or negative-going) indicated by the slope selection.

External triggering occurs when the level of the signal applied at the
Trigger 1 or Trigger 2 input reaches the trigger level on the selected
slope of the waveform. The selected triggering source is always active
and will generate

triggers even if the source channel is turned off
