Chapter 7: Port Parameter Commands

102

ACTIVATE SWITCH PORT

Syntax

activate switch port=

port

autonegotiate

Parameter

port

Specifies a port. You can specify more than one port at

a time. You can specify the ports individually (for
example, 5,7,22), as a range (for example, 18-23), or
both (for example, 1,5,14-22).

Description

If a port is using autonegotiation to set its speed and duplex mode, you
can use this command to prompt the port to renegotiate its settings with its
end node. This can be helpful if you believe that a port and an end node
have not successfully negotiated their settings.

If the speed and duplex mode on a port were set manually, this command
overrides those settings and returns the port to autonegotiation. It should
be noted that when a port is returned to autonegotiation, the MDI/MDI-X
setting on the port is returned to Auto-Detect.

Example

This command forces ports 1 and 4 to use autonegotiation to set speed
and duplex mode:

activate switch port=1,4

autonegotiate
