Configuring Filtering

If the performance of your network is affected by heavy traffic, you can use
this parameter to limit the number of unknown unicast ingress and egress
packets, unknown multicast ingress and egress packets, or broadcast
ingress and egress packets a port receives. When you activate this
feature on a port, the port discards all ingress or egress packets of the
type you specify. The default setting for each type of packet filter is
disabled.

To set up filtering, perform the following procedure:

1. From the Main Menu, type 1 to select Port Configuration.

The Port Configuration menu is shown in Figure 25 on page 102.

2. From the Port Configuration menu, type 1 to select Port Configuration.

The following prompt is displayed:

3. Enter the number of the port you want to configure.

The Port Configuration menu is shown in Figure 26 on page 103.

4. From the Port Configuration menu, type 4 to select Filtering.

The Filtering menu is shown in Figure 29.
