Cable and Port Information

Serial Cable Connection

You can use the suppled USB Type A to DB9a serial cable (null-modem) to connect the switch to a

terminal for initial setup and configuration (You can also use a computer running terminal emulation

software.). The switch’s serial cable is a USB type A to female DB-9 crossover cable (see Figure 3-4).

Connecting the Switch to a Terminal

1. Connect the serial cable to the terminal (console) ASCII DTE RS-232.
2. Connect the serial cable to the switch’s serial port.
3. If you are configuring a stack, connect the interface cable to the serial port of the Master switch.
