Using the Web Page(s)

RIP update timeout:

This is the length of time in seconds an updated metric will apply for when a RIP update is
received. If no updates are received within this time the usual metric will take over.

RIP update linger timeout:

When a RIP update timeout occurs and the route metric is 16, the unit will continue to adver-
tise this route in RIP updates for this period of time (in seconds). This is in order to help propa-
gate the dead route to other routers. The unit will no longer use a metric advertised by a RIP
update if the route has been set out of service locally.

Using Text Commands

From the command line, the rip command can be used to configure the RIP update options. To dis-
play the current settings for the RIP update options enter the command:

rip <instance> ?

where <instance> is 0.

To change the value of a parameter use the same command in the format:

rip 0 <parameter> <value>

The parameters and values are:
